Visit with Nana and Grandpa

This week Hazel's grandparents are visiting from Minnesota and we have been taking advantage of the extra help while they are here. Hazel loves hanging out with her Nana and Grandpa--she's having the best time going on outings, like to the beach (that's Hazel in the little bump on momma):

I heart my Dad

Family visits!

Hi Everyone--sorry we've been so bad about posting new pictures this week. Life is gotten a little hectic! We had a great visit from our Greek Grandma (yiayia) this week--she spoiled me with lots of kisses, hugs and singing plus a good lesson in Greek words. I can't wait to learn more as I get older! I already love my yiayia a ton and she promised me that she would come back to visit me with Papu sometime in October when he has more time off from work. And this weekend my Nana and Grandpa are coming to visit me--I'm so excited!

My yiayia and me.

This week has been pretty eventful--I went to the doctors on Thursday and learned that I've grown over a pound and a half the last two weeks! I'm just about 9 lbs now. The doctor says my height and weight are in the 50the percentile, so I'm exactly average! My mom is happy because that means all the time we spend breastfeeding is paying off. On the flip side, I have officially gotten my first case of "baby acne" but my mom says it is only temporary.

Outside on the balcony enjoying some really good Santa Barbara weather.

Chillin' in my bouncy chair--I really love the mornings when I hang out while my mom eats breakfast.

All snuggled up after bath time!

Just me looking cute again.

Flying Solo

This week dad had to go back to work, so mom and Hazel were flying solo. But baby Hazel has been most accommodating--she'll even chill out in the morning so that mom can take a quick shower and eat breakfast. Today, we went to our first PEP meeting, which is a support group for new moms and their babies. We're hoping to meet some new friends with babies the same age so that we can do playdates when I get older.

I have my mom's curly hair...

Mom also took advantage of some decent sleep last night (Hazel slept for 3-4 hours at a time!) and went for her first post-partum run today. It felt amazing to be back out running and enjoying the beautiful Santa Barbara weather.

Trying to go down for a nap.

Hazel also had a few visitors this week, including mom's friends from work and our buddy Emilia, who brought mom a giant cupcake, which made her very happy. We also Skyped with Hazel's aunt Ai, Uncle Mark and cousins Saya and Rubi. She's super excited to meet them one day soon!

Dad has been coming home during lunch to visit Hazel because he misses her so much during the day. You can't really blame him when I look this cute:

No more pictures, please!

Chillin'

Hazel has been keeping us up till the wee hours of the morning so the blog took a little bit of hiatus. Stuff has been happening though...

Yesterday, Auntie Meghan stopped by to visit and drop off some homemade goodies!!

Homemade chicken pot-pie and peach cobbler!! So freaking delicious!! Thanks Auntie Meghan and Uncle Doug

Today, the whole family went for a walk along Shoreline Drive. As always there was great Santa Barbara weather with plenty of sunshine. Mommy got try out her new bassinet stroller and get out of the house for once!

Week 2

Changing and growing every day!

Hazel is still working on how to sleep at night--she's a squirmy worm in the evenings and likes to wake herself up in the wee hours of the morning. But her parents are doing their best to figure out what she likes so that she can stay asleep for longer than a 1/2 hour at a time. One of her favorite things to do is cuddle with her daddy in bed or sleep on her mommy's chest. Skin to skin seems to be the one thing that will calm her down.

Hanging out with daddy and Zoe in my room.

Daddy's lap is one my favorite places to chill out.

My dad is so good looking I can't stop staring at him!

Bath Time!!

Hazel had her first bath today and loved it! She especially loved the warm water rinse over her head at the end.

Mommy and slippery wet baby

All done. Check out her face...she loves her new bath robe.

Day 8: A Visit From Friends

The last couple of nights have been a bit hectic so we apologize for the lack of updates. Last night was a rough one...not much sleep because Hazel can't seem to find a comfy position at night. We are going to try a few different ideas out tonight and see if it makes Hazel any more comfortable. If any of you out there have any ideas please leave a comment!

Today we were pleasantly surprised by our friends Raj, Neeti, Karina (Hazel's new BFF) and Mike. They were kind enough to bring some great company and Chinese food for lunch.

Zoe feeling a bit left out of all the action but handling it very well. She has actually been really great with the whole transition...she'll be a great companion to Hazel one day.

Hazel's first video

Super Dad

Today's post is dedicated to Hazel's dad (and written by her mom), who has already proven how much of a natural he is at fatherhood. Besides being able to stare lovingly at his daughter for hours, he's also been taking good care of Hazel's mom, making her meals, doing laundry and in general ensuring that she has everything she needs to keep Hazel happy. He's already the best dad, ever!

Eskimo kiss.

Day 4: Checking things out

Today, Hazel opened her eyes quite and bit and checked out her new pad. She is eating a ton and it shows...in many colors and forms....thanks diaper genie! Last night Hazel was so good! She didn't have one melt down...Mommy is getting into the swing of things - she is an amazing mommy already. Daddy is doing his best but is no replacement for the boob.
